I began teaching at Thomas Jefferson in the Spring 2010. I am excited to begin my eighth year of teaching with Beeville Independent School District. As the Fine Arts Teacher, I teach music and will be adding more art experiences to each class. The fifth graders will be working with the Orff instruments, movement, singing, and creating many fun musical experiences. The sixth graders will be learning to play guitar and piano, singing, learning to compose music on the computer with the various software as well as create many fun musical experiences. In addition, I will offer a new Choir/Art Ensemble at Thomas Jefferson which will feature creative collaborations between Choir and Art! The TJIS Choir has always done a great job each year. I know the students will be even more creative as we begin this new ensemble.
Before becoming a part of BISD, I came to Beeville and began teaching at Coastal Bend College (formerly Bee County College) in 1975. Within the Music Department I taught many music courses such as: Music Appreciation, Music History, Fundamentals of Music, Music Foundations for Elementary Teachers, Music for Early Childhood, Guitar Class, Piano Class, Music Theory 1, Band, Jazz Band, and all instrumental private lessons. I also had the opportunity to teach two online music courses.
I also taught Children’s Guitar Classes for Continuing Education and for the Kids College at Coastal Bend College
I am married and will celebrate thirty-nine years of marriage this year. I have two married children and two precious grandsons! I are currently pet-free.
I enjoy playing musical instruments and making lots of music. I also enjoy reading and spending time with my grandsons.
